Tapulous is looking to hire a great (Senior) Head of Marketing to join our expanding team.
This position represents an unparalleled opportunity to shape the entire marketing and public relations efforts of a hot new start-up in an exciting space. To date, Tapulous has managed 13 SKUs, 30 launches and over 500 press mentions, relying on the homegrown marketing experience of the founding partners. We are excited to anticipate how much more we could do with an experienced marketer driving this function.
This role is ideally suited for an experienced Director of Marketing that has the capacity to think strategically, but also implement the nuts and bolts of a marketing plan. Despite our successes, we maintain a "scrappy" start-up mentality and make extensive use of Twitter, Facebook, and in-app promotion, as well as other guerrilla marketing techniques to make our marketing dollars go further. You should thrive on thinking creatively about different cost-effective ways to reach the customer. You will be entering a supportive environment where we measure our success by working with you to make you a success. Over time, we expect you to bring on additional marketing hires for the company, to grow your team, and ours.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Create marketing plans and assist in the development of budgets
- Manage product launches and work together with the rest of the organization to ensure integrated marketing efforts
- Drive our SKU and pricing strategy
- Track product sales and responsiveness to marketing and pricing efforts
- Conduct research to analyze market trends and identify strategic opportunities
- Negotiate pricing with outside services and agencies and ensure budget conformity
- Develop a PR plan together with our CEO
Requirements:
- 5+ years' relevant experience in youth-oriented consumer goods, ideally while at a console or handheld gaming company or a consumer technology company
- Proven track record of successful project management and leadership roles
- Excitement about working in a fast-moving, high-profile start-up. The plans you create and enact will go live to millions of people quickly -- sometimes on the same day! With that comes times where there are less predictable work hours, and problems that require more inventiveness to make up for somewhat fewer resources. If you have Macgyver-like tendencies, we'll put them to good use.
Nice to have
- Good understanding of the video game industry
- Experience in developing sales forecasts and managing P&L statements for products
- Background and knowledge of marketing fundamentals, including positioning, market analysis, advertising and PR process and terminology, and rudimentary events and promotions management
